139. Anzac Day - Broome

ANZAC DAY – 80 MILE BEACH

The owner of the parks grandfather served in WW1. The story that followed was that his grandfather never really recovered from his wartime experience & died a virtual recluse overcome with an addiction to the bottle. He did however value this part of the world & so a few years ago the parks now owner along with a few other vets decided to construct this memorial. It is a memorial not just to remember the great war but all wars. It was built not to glorify war, simply to remember. The dawn service was attended by about 100 park inhabitants. It was a simple heartfelt service, one that I will always feel privileged to have attended.

VIETNAM VET

This vet was a speaker during the service. He served on the front line during the Vietnam campaign

BROOME OUTDOOR CINEMA

We finally made it to Broome. The open air cinema is iconic & we had a great time watching the evening flick.
