93. Elliston

LOCH WELLS

We left Port Lincoln & started to push north west into the Great Australian Bight. I was lucky enough to travel up into the Bight some years ago & was amazed by just how big an indent into the continent it actually is. At the head of the bight you are at the same latitude as Taree on the NSW mid north coast.

After passing through Coffin Bay, famous for oysters we continued along the coast stopping overnight at Loch Wells. The landscape here is steep rugged cliffs & this platform made a great spot for dinner.

ELLISTON

Another gem of the SA coastline. A sleepy village based mainly around fishing & in particular crayfish & abalone.

The locals were very friendly & now it seemed we were back to places we the people had time to stop & have a coffee & a good long chat.

ELISTON CLIFFS

Driving along the cliff tops provides some of the most spectacular views.
