96. Cactus

CACTUS ISOLATION

We pushed on from Streaky, mainly because the weather wasn’t crash hot & also to get back into wilderness. Cactus is a famed surf destination. This place is right on the coast in a very isolated part of Oz. One bloke owns this patch of pristine coastal environment & it has been his labour of love for 30 years. There is only minimal campsites that are spread well apart. The toilets are open air as are the showers. There is a lean to camp kitchen & a few fire pits throughout the area. Our rig is quite large yet you can almost dissolve into the surroundings.

This is pure nature.

MATES

We made some new friends at Streaky Bay. Together we decided that it might be good to catch up at Cactus. These guys are travelling with three boys & are much like us in that they prefer to stay off the beaten track .

HATARI

The boys jumped at the opportunity to drive on the rooftop of Adams & Kristy’s 4WD.
