99. Esperance

KEV’S PLACE

Rather than arrive at van park at 6.00pm & pay for a full day & having to check out at 10.00am the following morning we have learnt to pull up about 20kms out of town & free camp for the night. Not only the dollars, but we really do prefer to be on our own sometimes. We noticed a farmer & being the courteous people that we are always ask if we can pull up out front. In this case we came across Kevin who said to pull into his property & spend the night. Kevin’s passion is his thoroughbred race horses. Kev & his wife are just about to set off on their annual trip that takes them as far as Broome. Along the way they race their horses at the various regional & country meets. They take seven or eight horses in a purpose built float that also has their own accommodation. They tow this behind a massive Volvo prime mover. Thanks Kev & good luck with the upcoming journey.

ESPERANCE; TWIGHLIGHT COVE

Throughout our travels we have heard from many that Esperance has the most beautiful beaches. Apart from the west coast of WA, I have been fortunate to have seen much of Australia’s coastline & this is top shelf. The there are over 100 islands that lie close offshore & provide a magnificent backdrop to the clear waters & white sandy beaches.
