BARRA FEEDING
The barra don’t actually bite; they suck in their prey. This occurs with the fish slowly rising to the surface & then with an explosion they suck in the bait with a loud popping sound then flick into a turn & return to the depths. This all happens in tenths of a second.
Look at the way Kaz has pulled her right feeding arm back. These fish really do hit hard.
CROC CAGE
We dropped in to check out this cage & the representative of the Ports North Authority was more than happy to show the boys how it all worked. The late Steve Irwin had actually caught crocs from this river. This cage is 4.5m long & was about to be superseded by a larger model as this one wasn’t big enough for some of the residents.
KARUMBA BIKERS
These blokes had caught our attention as they fired up their machines at the local cafe. Like many, they had their passage to the centre of Oz blocked by the rains, so had decided to head to this drier area.
